At the beginning of Summer, I traveled to Waco, TX to visit the small empire we all know as Magnolia. Chip and Joanna Gaines are a couple who have created a better name for the town through their love of design and creating home spaces for families to enjoy for the rest of their lives. I am a huge fan of their HGTV show, Fixer Upper. So, I was more than willing to purchase their regalia and indulge in their bakery’s pastries.
There are a few highlights of Magnolia. The first, is that they are located by huge Silos that help to emphasize the farmhouse style Joanna loves. The second, is that the bakery has delicious cupcakes, pastries, lemonades, and other local favorites, such as the food trucks that circle the lot, that should not be overlooked. Make sure you go to the Silos hungry because you will want to leave with a belly full of food that is personally crafted by Joanna herself. Next, they have an outdoor patio that features greenhouses, turf, comfortable seating, and lawn games to play for the little ones. This area has also been a hot venue for concerts and movie nights. Lastly, there is the store itself. The design is IKEA-esque in that the room is comparable to the interior of a home, and everything on display is for sale. Overall, the store and bakery at the Silos are not just about shopping. The vision the Gaines’ were going for on this compact lot of land encompasses sunshine, friendship, family, and good times. I would highly recommend coming to spend a long afternoon at Magnolia because it is an experience that will be held close to your heart for years to come. Also, if you or a loved one is in the military, you can get a discount on everything in-store. Thank you, Zach!
